It is located on the bank of Man River, not far away from Muang "Dan Sai" in Loei Province Thailand.
During the reign of King Saysettha of LanXang Kingdom and King Phra Maha Chakrapat of Ayutthaya in 15th century, the
relationship between the two maternity brotherhood kingdoms was unbelievably wonderful. LanXang and Ayutthaya kingdoms lived
peacefully side-by-side, fully respect each other kingdom's territory and sovereignty. Since both kingdoms shared similar
culture, religion and languages, the relation between the two kingdoms was at its best of that time. But both kingdoms were
also under the constant threat of the common enemy - the Burmese.
To strengthen the tie and to honor the friendly and peaceful relations between Sri Satana Khanahout (LanXang Kingdom) and
Krung Sri Ayutthaya, both kings unanimously decided to build a long lasting - significant symbolic "Phra That Sri SongHak".
The construction began in 2099 BE (1556 AD). It was completed on Thursday in 2102 BE (June 1559 AD). The 30 meters "That
SiSongHak" also demarcated the border between the two kingdoms. For the Lao people on both side of the Mekong River, it was a
royal symbol of kinship between the two brotherly people of both kingdoms.
The inscription on the stone slap reads, in part, "The generations to come must not violate and dispossess territory of the other. They must not be greedy or act
in a deceitful manner in their interaction until the sun and the moon fall down on this land."
