The Khene (also spelled Khaen) a free-reed bamboo instrument or a mounth-organ is one of many Lao musical instruments that is used to accompany Lao style singing or dancing (Lao folk music) known as Lam, also called "Khap" in northern Laos. Those who sing Lao traditional music are called Morlam (morlum).

"Lao Lam" has many styles from the various regions of Laos. Each one has its own meaning and dance rythm.
